CHRYSANTHEMUM STONE

With a nickname of stone of Wealth & Honor, Chrysanthemum stone took shape in the result of severe geological changes in the Permian period 270 million years before (prior to Dinosaur Era.)  At that time, some silt in Sea bottom and some marine organisms sank deeply into the earth's cluster and they formed into chrysanthemum stone after several hundred million years of high temperature and high pressure.  Chrysanthemum stone mainly consists of two kind of rocks, one of them is reddish black stone, it has no nature of radiation, contains no substances harmful to human beings health.  In addition to that, the reddish black stone consists of abundant micro elements good for health, such as selenium, strontium and bismuth, etc. It originated in the overhanging cliffs and in the rapids of riverbed in the region of Three George's. Gypsum clay, dolomite and limestone, with internal crystals of calcite, feldspar, and celestite.

With black and white sharply contrasted, the chrysanthemum stone has a smooth nature and lifelike patterns.  It is observed as if glaze, felt as if jade, it is genuine, rare and marvelous, the pattern on every stone is a treasure.  The layout of the patterns is easy and smooth, better than the works produced by famous Chinese painting artists.  Most of the pattern consists of flower of chrysanthemum flowers and butterflies.  In 1915, China exhibited one stone in the International Expo held in Panama, it gained golden prize and obtained the title of "1st Among the World".  The quantity of Great Chrysanthemum stone is very small and its exploitation is very difficult.  As a result of that, the stone is very rare and their value is high.  The Chrysanthemum stone with its flowery white patterns on a black background, occurs naturally in the Hunan region of China.  It symbolizes longevity in Chinese lore.

CUMBERLANDITE

CUMBERLANDITE - The Official State Rock of Rhode Island. This is an extremely rare and unique stone and has significant historical and geological interest. This very special rock was originally named Rhodose and was identified hundreds of years ago but was renamed Cumberlandite by Wadsworth (1861). In 1966 by the Rhode Island General Assembly because it is extremely rare and unique nature officially adopted as the official state rock of Rhode Island (Resolution #268). Cumberlandite was formed over 1.5 Billion years ago when a small volcano erupted and 24 different minerals mixed together with molten rock and when it cooled formed a slightly magnetic rock that is iron rich. It was later exposed by glacial movements. This rare ore deposit is world renown and thought to be the largest and purest body of ore in New England. It is located on a 3.7 acre parcel in Cumberland, Rhode Island 02864 near the intersection of West Wrentham Road and
Elder Ballou Meetinghouse Road It is about three miles east of Woonsocket, R.I., four miles SW of the NE corner of R.I. and one mile from the Massachusetts state line. It is the world’s only known site of Cumberlandite rocks. The area is aka “Iron Mine Hill. It is classed as a variety of ferrogubbro and is an porphyritic igneous rock composed of crystals white plagioclase feldspar in a finer-grained groundmass of magnetite, ilmenite,  and olivine that was “stewed in its own juices”. The feldspar and olivine changed to a fine-grained serpentine. The rocks are black and gray-black color, heavy and slightly magnetic. Attraction to a magnet can be used for means of positive identification.  Cumberlandite is commonly mistaken for a meteorite. This is because it has intense magnetic susceptibility (property), its high specific gravity, and common pitted nature. Even Wadsworth (1861) classed it as a “terrestrial pallasite” because Cumberlandite had a texture similar to pallasite type of meteorite. Furthermore, Jackson thought that Cumberlandite would grade in depth into an unoxidized metallic iron. This site has been visited by many schools so students can learn about Cumberlandite and glacier movements. Also of academic interest is the titanium content since it is one of the
industry’s most valuable metals.

It has been reported that these extremely rare rocks were deemed sacred by the Nipmuck Indian Tribe. Cumberlandite was also used as early as 1703 for cannons, weapons and farm tools during the Revolutionary War when it was recognized as a possible ore of iron. It was mixed with hematite from the Hopkins Iron Mine in Cranston, Rhode Island and was forged by Philip Brown at Abbott’s Run in Cumberland. Because it has alot of titanium, which made it very costly and hard to smelt. Sadly a furnace explosion killed Philip Brown in 1763. Cannons made of Cumberlandite were also used in the siege of Louisberg in 1745. Sometime later, John Brown of Providence, R.I., was contracted for iron used in cannons by the U.S. Government. He used a mixture of Cumberlandite and Cranston ores and smeltered them in Easton Massachusetts. Most of the hill was reported to be quarried for road metal by the Cumberland Iron Trap Rock Company.
Cumberlandite was used as gravel for the old Narragansett Race Track parking lot in Pawtucket, R.I. The Iron Mine Hill outcrop, elliptical in cross section, was estimated to be approximately 1,200 feet long on its major axis, and 500 to 600 feet on its minor axis. Jackson (1840) calculated the mass of porphyrytic magnetic iron ore, 462 feet long, 132 feet wide and 104 feet high with 6,342,336 cubic feet of ore visible. It has a specific gravity of 3.82-3.88 giving it tonnage of approximately 7,641,488 tons. Jackson’s analysis stated this would yield about 3,000,000 tons of ore and over 1,000,000 tons of titanium. I have identified over 50 grave headstones made of Cumberlandite and estimate them to be over 225 years ago.  From Debra Frankian of Rhode Island.

CALCITE CHUNKS

Metaphysical Properties
GREEN CALCITE
The green calcite rough chunks also contain the rhomboidal structure although it does not visibly appear in this shape.  Chunks tend to be most useful in dealing with fears related to changing your way of life and beliefs.  They soothe the psyche in the process of letting go. Calcite as a family is about creating bridges or connections between the old and the new - between the new way and the way we do things now.  Each different coloured calcite brings with it a different type of connection or bridge and this new Emerald Green one is no different. Emerald Green Calcite comes from Mexico and its a relatively new colour.  It is far brighter and more vibrant than normal green calcite.

My own experience with this stone is that it is an enabler to the very energy of calcite - in other words it gives you the keys to "being" calcite rather than just using it.  It is about how you create those bridges or connections between time, states, energies and people - openheartedness. Now that may sound extremely basic but its actually not that easy to do.  To speak truely from the heart, to see truely from the heart and to keep the heart open not matter what's being thrown at you.

By operating totally from an "open-hearted" perspective we also feel the love and beauty around us more intensly - it creates that bridge or connection between us and nature, to the beauty that surrounds us and also to the beauty that is within us.

PINK CALCITE
The pink calcite rough chunks have particular use in expanding the capacity to love, our ability to express joy and freely give as well as receive love.
HONEY CALCITE
Golden Calcite (often called Honey) relates to the navel center and is used to integrate the new way into the physical plane, into what you do, your relationships and your work.  As with all calcite, the Gold assists during times of transition but gold is particularly successful in insuring that the new power is properly used.

Numerology- Calcite vibrates to the number 8.  The number 8 has to do with personal power.

Gemological Properties- Golden calcite is a mineral species from the hexagonal crystal system.  The chemical composition is CaCO3. The refractive index is 1.48-1.65 and the specific gravity is 2.70.  This stone is fairly soft being only a 3 on the Moe’s Scale of hardness.  Calcite is fairly abundant and is found all over the world.

EMERALD CALCITE

Metaphysical Properties- 4th chakra (heart) This is a brand new calcite on the market called Emerald calcite for its lovely green color.  This is a very deep healing heart chakra stone.  I recommend it for healing those deepest issues of the heart such as love of self and others.  Cleansing of old stagnant and blocked energy.  Breaking old relationship habits and patterns.  Emerald Calcite allows you to surrender or to let go of those love issues which have stopped you from finding your true love or soul mate.  Surrender to the Universe the ‘need’ to be in a relationship.  Give yourself the gift of clearing out the old energy that you are projecting.  If you project the energy of neediness or being a victim, you will only attract those who are not good for you.  Use the Emerald Calcite to help you project an image of love and self-respect for yourself.  This will allow your true energy to show and only then will you be able to mirror your soul mate.  Emerald Calcite will show your heart the way, the way to a happy and healthy relationship.  There is someone for each of us, we just need to heal our own heart first.  To use this calcite hold it over your heart chakra and say this affirmation out loud.  “ I am in love with the Universe, Myself and with life”.

Numerology- Emerald Calcite vibrates to the number 3, joy and creativity!

Gemological Properties- Emerald calcite is a mineral species from the hexagonal crystal system.  The chemical composition is CaCO3. Totally transparent and brilliantly radiant, these crystals build crystal clear channels between the soul and the self.  They can help one see things clearly and perceive reality in a new way.  They provide greater and clearer perception.  Their tendency to create double images reminds us that we are more than what we seem – we are both the soul and the person living on this planet.

GREEN RHOMBOIDAL CALCITE
All rhomboidal calcite is used when consciously reconstructing your reality – creating a new way of being you.  The green variety helps the mind release old fears while in the process of consciously constructing new beliefs.  It bridges the gap between the stage of letting go of one reality and taking hold of a new chosen way of being.

GOLDEN CALCITE FROM MONTANA

These crystals are from Montana, USA.  They exhibit unusual chevrons (striations) unique to this locality.  Montana's geology is diverse and complex.  In some areas sedimentary deposits were either uplifted or covered with volcanics.  Therefore, there is a large reservoir of Calcite and Dolomite available from these formations.  Hydrothermal action brings some of the carbonates to the surface.  Other places some of the Calcite is dissolved by weak acids from rain water, probably increased in acidity by the carbon dioxide of decaying plants.  (Caves are a good example of this).

So, where does this leave our Calcite crystals? One can only theorize.  My guess is that these crystals are formed by a 2 solution process. Originally these crystals formed through sedimentary precipitation and then were brought to the surface through hydrothermal means.  AS for the chevrons, my feelings are that these crystals sat in their place on the host rock for who knows how long.  When the time was right the acidic rain water began to drip on the top side of the crystal and began to dissolve parts of the crystal face, that is why you only see 2 or 3 faces with these chevrons.  And that is also why you do not see many of these crystals with chevrons, the acidic rain water did not drip on them while they were in the host rock.  Why the perfect striations and not random etching? My theory is that maybe there was some sort of metallic mineral that was dusted in an even pattern on top of the crystal faces, when the acidic rain water dripped on this metallic mineral, possible an iron oxide, the rain water was repelled or reflected.

Metaphysical Properties- 3rd chakra. Energetically speaking these stones are emotional as well as mental. Of course the basic properties of Golden Calcite are associated with self-esteem and worth.  These Golden Chevron Calcite crystals bring out creativity, stimulates wisdom and aids manifesting.  Connects the lower with the higher mental bodies. Protects and strengthens the aura.  Allows our wisdom to shine through.

The unique outer striations (chevrons) can be looked upon as Inner phantoms that have manifested into the form of outer phantoms (chevrons), manifesting our inner wisdom in a way that lets us understand at a mental level. (stores information relating to learning about oneself.)  These outer phantoms manifest what is inside of us and projects it to the outside world.  Showing your personality to the world, your true-self without fear.

Could these 'chevrons' be inter dimensional time gates or links to another time and place?  By using the Chevron Calcite crystal one maybe able to access past lives and by doing so discoveries may be made about one's true self. (Personality).
Physically this crystal relates to bones, muscles, teeth and tissue. Digestive system and nervous system.

Numerology-Golden Chevron Calcite is a number 6.  The number six is always a teacher because of its strong love of truth and justice. Wanting to guide and educate; finding the truth. This golden chevron calcite provides the wisdom needed to enable one to learn their 'truth'.    I also see this crystal as a caretaker of spiritual affairs.

COVELLITE

Covellite is a copper sulfide and  has an irridescent blue tone that is close to indigo, it also has a flash that is somewhat hypnotic ranging from silver to gold to violet depending on the light.

Being copper based this mineral is about shifting energies from one form to another. Being this amazing indigo type colour it works at piercing the veils of our subconscious and addressing dissonance found there.  Covellite is both intense and precise, working like a surgeon to work on patterns held at levels that normally escape conscious awareness and understanding.

So how is this used?  Well sometimes you need to work with things that are hidden - hidden beliefs or feelings that are contributing to a problem or "dis-ease" but which you can't consciously see.  In these situations, Covellite can help ferret out the issues and bring them into focus- unravelling those complex patterns which just sometimes seem to go on forever.  Placed on different parts of the body it will focus its laser-like resonance on that area - so placing it on the solar plexus will help expose and deal with issues of self-esteem, the use and abuse of will etc

It has also been said that Covellite helps to relieve despondency and helps to stimulate the third eye, initiating one's psychic power.
